Automotive industry professional Rahim Hassanally looks back on more than 10 years of membership to the National Association of Minority Automobile Dealers.

rahim hassanallyRahim Hassanally marks more than a decade of involvement with ethnic minority automobile dealer group the National Association of Minority Automobile Dealers as he shares more about the growing nonprofit, tax-exempt organization headquartered in the Washington, D.C. area.

“I’ve now been a member of the National Association of Minority Automobile Dealers for more than 10 years,” reveals Hassanally, a respected automotive industry professional based between California and Texas.

Founded in 1980 and led by individuals of African American, Latino, and Asian/Pacific Islander heritage including current president Damon Lester, the National Association of Minority Automobile Dealers represents ethnic minority automobile dealers throughout the United States. “The organization seeks to ensure the presence of a meaningful and a representative number of minority entrepreneurs and employees in the automotive industry, across manufacturing, retail sales, and the supplier and service sectors,” adds 10-year National Association of Minority Automobile Dealers member Hassanally.

Presided over by Damon Lester and headquartered in Lanham, Maryland, there are currently a total of more than 19,000 new automobile dealerships in the U.S., of which less than 1,200—equivalent to around just 5%—are owned by ethnic minorities, according to the organization. “National Association of Minority Automobile Dealers membership has much to offer,” suggests Hassanally, “including access to a nationwide network of professionals dedicated to diversity inclusion throughout every aspect of the automotive industry.”

Membership is on an annual basis, with categories including ‘Premier Member,’ ‘Affiliate Member,’ ‘Dealer Candidate,’ and ‘NextGen,’ which is limited to individuals with a management position within a current National Association of Minority Automobile Dealers membership-holding dealer location. The organization also hosts a popular annual conference.

A proud and committed member of the National Association of Minority Automobile Dealers, Rahim Hassanally is also a Governor of California appointed Department of Motor Vehicles New Motor Vehicle Board member, as well as a board member of the American International Automobile Dealers Association. The automotive industry professional’s other accolades include making the Automotive News ‘Top 40 Under 40’ list and receiving recognition as the 18th annual Urban Wheel Awards ‘Urban Dealer of the Year.’

A keen advocate for breast cancer awareness and a supporter of a number of charities, good causes, and other nonprofit organizations, Texas-native Rahim Hassanally today boasts more than two decades of automotive industry experience, and, in his spare time, is an avid and accomplished sportsman who also enjoys a range of other hobbies and interests.

The National Association of Minority Automobile Dealers is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, tax-exempt organization committed to increasing opportunities for ethnic minorities in all aspects of the automotive industry.
